Why does my boss only like me when im grey rocking? And then as soon as i become warm and nice, he goes back to being a passive-aggressive, nasty asshole? When I start giving him the silent treatment, however, he all of a sudden wants to be buddies and crack jokes. What is this?

Sounds like he’s a deeply emotionally manipulative person. He’s cold when he thinks he has you, then warm when he thinks he’s losing his control over you. Does it ever escalate further? Not to say that how it is now isn’t bad enough!
It’s a control thing. If I were you I would run.
