Medical Procedure forced to work

One time I needed to have a medical procedure done, I wasn’t given the prep instructions, until I was and found out I needed to prep for like 36 hours. As soon as I knew this I let my manager know because I was working the night before. I told her I wouldn’t be able to work a little over 24 hours in advance, which sucks but like I didn’t know either. I couldn’t get it picked up and she kept on saying that I needed to find someone or have a doctors note. She waited until the very last minute, cancelled my shift, and proceeded to tell me that my doctors not wasn’t valid?

Am I the problem?

I feel like you probably should’ve made sure how long the prep was before you said you could work the day before a medical procedure.

No they should understand

to be honst, the fact that this is even up to date is ridiculous. unless your job relies on the literal lives of other people you should not be shamed for this
